Did you ever think it might be fun to be a Bedouin? Wander the deserts on camels, dressed in those flowing robes, through the shifting dunes… Yes, it could be fun. But those dunes can be a lot more fun if you are in a luxury four wheel drive, like a Toyota Land Cruiser, that goes up and down the dunes like a roller coaster! This is the famous dune bashing, an experience you simply can't leave without if you are in Dubai.

Once you are through with the forty five minute adrenaline rush, you can calm down and see the immense loveliness of a desert during sunset. The golden sands and the dunes will be bathed in hues that make it look like something out of Arabian Nights, mysterious and dangerous. Once you have the images imprinted in your mind – and your camera, just in case – you can see what it is like to be a real Bedouin! There will be camels for you to ride, of course, for those who can get the hang of something that does need some skill, once you get back to camp.

Then it's time to relax, the traditional way – on majlis, or low cushions, in Bedouin tents. Of course, your dinner will be a bit more elaborate than the traditional Bedouin fair. A traditional sumptuous Arabian Barbecue will be waiting for you, with all the frills – the coffee and dates that are such an integral part of the tradition, as well as a delicious buffet dinner and dessert.

If you would like to really get into the spirit of things, you could dress up Bedouin style, too, with henna, a form of temporary tattoo that involves no piercing or needles, and sit around and smoke sheesha, also called hubbly-bubbly or water pipe and comes in different flavors.

Entertainment is provided by belly dancers, who will dance to the beautiful melodies of traditional Arabic music. You could watch and marvel, or try your hand – or belly – at it, too, if you feel up to it.
